Name etymology
Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac & Little Cayman.
A 1523 map shows all three Islands with the name Lagartos, (alligators or large lizards) but by 1530 the name Caymanas, derived from the Carib Indian word for the marine crocodile, was being used.
Uninhabited Islands
*Before 2 million annual visitors discovered them.
When Christopher Columbus stumbled upon the Cayman Islands in 1503 during his fourth voyage to the Americas, he found no human inhabitants. The islands were home only to an abundance of wildlife and natural beauty, which amazed the explorers.

But a little rounding up never hurt nobody.
